Point out that the narrator s pleading for any death except that of the pit. Visualize what might be in the pit to inspire such horror, share your ideas with the class.
2. "Could I resist its glow......could I withstand it pressure?"
The narrator pauses here to ask a series of questions. Why might the narrator do so?
